The Community Action Organization of Delaware, Madison & Union Counties, Inc. is a private non-profit agency dedicated to helping and serving low-income individuals and families in Delaware, Madison, Union, Shelby, Champaign, and Logan counties. Established in 1965 as a result of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, CAODMU is a collaborative partner in our counties with local governments, churches, social service agencies and networks, business, industry, and more. CAODMU offers a variety of programs in financial education, emergency services, residential and housing assistance, and more. CAODMU’s administrative office and Union County office are located in Marysville, Ohio, with offices in each of our other counties.
Funding for CAODMU’s services and operation is derived from federal, state, local, and private grants. CAODMU administers the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) for our area, which provides administrative and operational funding, client outreach, information and referral services, and emergency services. Other funding sources include the Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) and the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP). HWAP provide weatherization assistance to eligible individuals by improving the insulation and overall efficiency of the home to reduce heating bills and safety concerns. HEAP provides limited assistance to individuals who are, or are about to be, shut off from their primary heating source or have insufficient funds to purchase bulk fuel to heat their home.
