Elderly Home Programs

Elderly Home Repair is funded for Delaware, Madison & Union Counties by the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging and for Champaign, Logan & Shelby Counties by the Area Agency on Aging, PSA2.

This program is intended to help a senior to stay in their own home and to make the home safe for them. Some senior citizens may be declining in health and physical conditions that may not allow them to do the repairs necessary at their home. This service can provide critical maintenance necessary to preserve the health and safety of a consumer’s home. This program also allows home modifications services that can adapt the consumer’s residence to increase accessibility and enable the consumer to function with greater independence in their residence. There is a cost share that is based on a sliding fee scale to determine the amount a client will be asked to pay toward the cost of services, but services will not be denied if unable to pay.

Examples of the services:

  • Repair or replacement of furnaces
  • Repair or replacement of hot water heaters
  • Electrical repairs
  • Roof repairs or replacements
  • Installation of ramps
  • Bathroom modifications
  • Handrails

Project Safe Heat

This program is available only in Union County.

The program in Delaware County is funded by the Council for Older Adults of Delaware County. The same program is funded by Union County Senior Services for Union County.

Project Safe Heat involves a heat technician to come to your home and inspect and clean your furnace. We also will install a CO detector in your home if you do not have one.

You must be a homeowner and over 60 years of age to qualify for this program.

In Union County the program also allows us to complete furnace repairs up to $500.00. If your furnace needs replaced we can recommend you to come and apply for some of our other programs, such as Home Weatherization, to help with the replacement.
